Wired Up

Shanean's line is going in at 1.00pm today (Tuesday), she has asked for a General anaesthetic to knock her out when they give it to her (she still has night terrors about the bone marrow biopsy). They arent committing to anything, but told her to ask when she gets to the operating table

Then the chemo treatment starts tomorrow. Tomorrows will be the "worst" one apparently as it will make her shaky and hot plus sick as well - but it only lasts for one day and then the rest are more benign. Now that there will be two tubes in her she will get Chemo and fluids at the same time

On Thursday she has to go to another floor of the hospital to suck on some gas for 45mins which is to prevent a hospital bug that gets around causing lung infections. As her white blood cells will be down to nil she will have no immunity to fight this bug off. The gas lasts for a few weeks and then she will need to take tablets for 6 months to continue to prevent infection

The chemo then goes until Sunday - she needs to be wired up all that time which is a bit claustrophobic for her. Stem Cell transplant Monday then recovery time
