Preparation

The last 2 weeks have been relatively calm, no treatment cycles or hospital visits - just the anticipation of the last yet intense cycle which commences next Monday

Shanean had a check up today and spoke to Prof Joshua - turns out her sister's stem cells are a perfect match, so these can be used if another transplant is needed. Also he said that from her own stem cell harvest they were able to get enough for 2 cycles, although if the cancer returns quickly like last time they wont bother using her own and go straight to Christenes

Another question was whether the clear scan she had a couple of weeks ago has improved her prognosis at all and chances of a full recovery (cure) - apparently not, the "salvage rate" is still 50 per cent. It just means everything is going to plan

  1. Hi there,
Great news about Christene being able to help - should it be needed. I was checking the blog daily the last few weeks for any information. Shanean has been quiet on the e-mail side, probably doesn't have time with her mom and sister there. You must look after her and give her a big hug from us. Love you guys and am thinking about you everyday.
