Home for a couple of weeks now and still another 3 weeks to go until the chemo grand finale
Shanean had a Pet scan about 10 days ago - a fairly big milestone to determine if this treatment cycle is working. She had the scan in the morning and after which went up to the ward to visit Barbara and Betty - her roomates from the last hospital stay. On the way out she bumped into professor Joshua who informed her that the scan had "returned to normal" which means all clear
so this is good news - but as her mum says we've had these clear scans before - but it's a step in the right direction and obviously she is having the right response. It also means that she can proceed with the next round of treatment
The next and final round is a big one - she will be admitted to hospital and has to have a line inserted into her neck by an operation. This will allow the chemo to be given over a full week. This will destroy all the bone marrow so she will be given her stem cell transplant straight away. From beginning to end it should take three weeks.
With Such a serious treatment you would expect the cancer wouldn't have a hope
she doesn't go in until the 22nd of November so she has a good 3 weeks or so at home. Her sister christene has arrived from south Africa so they can spend some time together
