Shanean came home from the hospital yesterday after a few tough days down the bottom
her white blood cells recovered back to normal levels but her platelettes are still critically low so she will have to go in every second day for monitoring
as her cells had improved much the people from the transplant unit called her in to do the stem cell harvest Before she went home. They wired and tubes her up for three hours to collect all the stem cells which they got more than enough of. During the procedure her blood pressure dropped quite low and she was seeing stars and feeling faint but that went away afterwards
so now it's up to a four week wait for the next cycle - there will be another pet scan in a couple if weeks to see how the tumour is responding
also, after hanging on right to the end, shanean's hair has decided to fall out again
Thanks for the update Shayne. We're looking forward to seeing you all next week xx
ReplyDeleteHi Shayne.. My name is Marlize a school friend of Shanean's. I was told of Shanean's illness by another school friend of her's. Please will you let her know that I am thinking of her and pray for a speedy and complete recovery. I will be visiting Sydney with my family from 4 January 2011 and if Shanean is up for it I would love to see her. If there is anything that I can bring along from SA for her, also let me know.
ReplyDeleteWishing you guys strength!
