Third Week

After a relaxing few days in Grafton we are back in Sydney. From yesterday Shanean is feeling fine - just like pre-chemo and cancer days. There was a lingering bad headache until yesterday and when that cleared things were good

To take advantage of the presumably short term good health (chemo round II is next Friday) we went for a nice lunch at Ulmarra at an old pub on the river and went out for a dinner with the clan last night.

She was able to have a beer or two for a change. The doctors confirmed that its ok to have alchohol whilst having chemo so all was not lost

On Monday her hair started falling out. When you run your fingers through it clumps come out. So to soften the blow a bit we went to a local hairdresser in Grafton and got her long locks cut off. Her hair length has gone from being nearly at her waist to now just above her shoulders. It looks just like her old hairstyle but much shorter so it wasnt actually that much of a culture shock

She kept a big plait to give to the wig place. When we showed it to Celeste she said "oooh mummy your hair is very broken"

Tomorrow Shanean has to go to the hospital yet again for her "oncological psychotherapy" visit. She was supposed to have this when she was staying in hospital but they didnt get around to it. A free therapy session they give to cancer patients. The doctor was keen for her to have this because of her young age (in cancer terms), long hair and young children.

We also have booked Shanean's parents on flights from Cape Town to Sydney, they get here next week
