Yesterday Shanean went back to the hospital for an appointment with the new Professor, he had the results of her scan that she had last week. Not the best news, it appears for some reason half the tumours are responding to the treatment, but the other half are not, and are still growing. They dont know why this is
It does not really change anything, the treatment cycle will continue as planned, although the mix of drugs will be altered slightly next time. She has another round of chemo starting next week, then radiation, then a donor stem cell transplant from her sister Christene. They will not do the transplant though if the cancer has not fully responded by then as it is too risky.
So back into hospital she goes again on Monday, they will not be sending her home after the treatment is finished though, she will have to stay in while she "crashes". This means probably up to another 3 weeks admission.
Christene arrives on the 20th of June from South Africa with her stem cells in tow in preparation for the transplant which will be around the 7th July
Thanks Shayne. Not good, but half is better than none. This next round will blast the stubborn ones.
ReplyDeleteLove to all, C xx

ReplyDeleteHi, thanks for the info. I'm sorry it's not all good, but I'm sure the next round will sort those stubborn tumours out!
