It's been a long few days - we thought things were maybe on the up yesterday when her white blood cell count results came in at 0.1 but today it is back to zero and she will be getting some more blood and platellete transfusions today to support her
Given all this the doctors seem happy with her progress, everything is going as expected and she is copping these side effects in textbook fashion with no complications. Doesn't make her feel much better though.
Anyway it's now day 18 - 2 more days to go before we can expect an improvement. Today she is weak and groggy so hopefully she can just sleep through a lot of this down time. Her mucusitis (mouth sores) are still around and still needs morphine to dull the pain. We shaved her head yesterday to make her a bit more comfortable - the shedding hair in the bed was driving her mad.
The ward is nice and empty today for Easter Sunday - 8 patients went home yesterday and her French roomate went home today - so there is only one other old lady in her room of four beds - if she goes then Shanean will have the place to herself (for now)
Thinking of you.
