The days after the transplant Shanean felt fine but was in hospital the whole time. A couple of days ago, as expected, the white blood cells dropped (they were at zero yesterday) and she is feeling pretty rotten again (headache, nausea and general flu/food poisoning feeling) She had some morphine today but this made her sick and sort of defeated the whole purpose of giving it to her. In a few days she should be out the other side and then her treatment has finished. She should be home next weekend. Just in time as she is getting pretty fed up with hospital food - she has her own private room though which is good
the pamphlets say that it takes a good few months to recover from a bone marrow transplant - she will probably be weak and tired for a while so we will see how it goes. We now have a three week holiday at the beach over Christmas so this will be a good start to the recovery process
we are not sure what the next steps are re checkups or follow up treatments (if any) they did mention another pet scan to confirm the all clear but whether this is before or after Christmas we don't know yet
