Shanean's fourth round of chemo was on Monday - its all fairly routine now. Meet the professor at 9am for a consultation with the professor that provides not much info (without any new scans or other data), he writes the various prescriptions for the numerous drugs (steroids, anti-nausea, chemo, white blood cell boosters etc) and then she goes to another building at the hospital to get the actual chemo which takes around 5 hours
Again, Shanean is taking this round of chemo in her stride - hasn't been too bad at all. Some "nausea waves" and a bit of indigestion, but thats about it. At the waiting room for her appointment she was eating a sandwich when the professor called her in and he seem quite impressed/surprised that she is able to eat so well. We even went to the pub for dinner last night
So how many more chemos does she have to get? - as a minimum it will be six (2 more), but it all depends on the scans. She has the first one next week and if this returns negative (ie no more active cancer cells) then it may stop at six or if there are still some cells hanging around then she will continue on for 8 sessions - and this process continues on. They basically keep going until all the cells are gone
how long is mum still in town? would love to come and say hallo now that i'm back in sydney.
ReplyDeleteWe are thinking of you! Darcy is missing his 'Lestie' a lot at the moment - tears and sadness. We'll have to plan a trip to Sydney soon so the love-birds can play!
