I was at the shops with the kids today and got a call from Shanean - the nurses told her she could go home for a few hours today - she had her chemo in the morning and no more medication was scheduled until 800pm. The nurse on duty seemed to have taken pity on her - she couldn't believe that Shanean was scheduled to stay in hospital for three weeks straight
so we picked her up at the front of the hospital - the kids were ecstatic and we brought her home for a good few hours - she wasn't too well as her headache from the spinal tap was more severe when she stands up and walks - but a change of scenery from the hospital was good
whilst it was all good having her home - It was a bit traumatic for the kids sending her back - they thought everything was back to normal so they got a bit upset when we had to drop her off again - Nessie crying in the back seat of the car asking "why mummy can't come back with us" was a tad heartbreaking.
In true resilient salter kid form however, everything was completely fine once we were around the corner and with a promise of a trip to red rooster (an australian fast food chain) it was all singing and laughing again
Again, we are amazed by your resilience and humbled by your strength. You are an inspiration. Thinking of you every day. Jan and Maria.
