Practicalities

From the previous blog it's pretty clear that this treatment cycle is going to be a tad inconvenient. Compounded by the fact that we have only had one week to prepare for things

the biggest issue is looking after Celeste and Joel for the next few months or so. At this stage I will try and continue working so with a mix of daycare and grandparent assistance we will work out some sort of routine. Shanean's mum is coming over from south Africa again and we have found a day care centre for Celeste that will take her three days a week (Joel is still too young) and Dad has been here for the last week helping out

2 weeks ago we also moved house (we got the news about Shanean the day after we moved in) and whilst the timing is bad it is a good thing as we now have a lot more space for granny and anyone else to stay - we are also still not far from the hospital.

Shanean is in a shared ward with four other beds but as she has private health insurance they may move her to her own room if one becomes available - she will definately have her own room during the stem cell transplant at least

  1. Firstly, I want to pass on love and hugs from our household. I mentioned to CNDI last weekend that I would be happy to help out with childcare. I have three littlies so my house is well equipped for toddlers/preschoolers and I am at home with the kids fulltime. I'd be happy to help out on an ad hoc basis or weekly. Here's my email address (I don't want to post my phone number online):

Good luck with first round of treatment.

  2. Hi Shayne
I just want to thank you for everything you have done for Shanean during the first round and everything you will be doing again now. You don't even know how much we respect you in this regard and how grateful we are for you! We can not physically be there to help but you are in my thoughts every day. I hope that our priers will carry you through this.
Look after yourself and give Shanean and the kids a big hug from me.
    Love
    Colette
