Chemo III

Shanean had her third chemo session yesterday. A long wait (2.5 hours) to see the Professor who didnt say much and then to the clinic for all the drugs. She was there at 9.00am and got out at 6.00pm

The halfway PET scan has been ordered, but they will call back with a date and time - we are going to the beach up north next Friday, so if they cant get her in before this is wont be until we get back in the new year. The professor didnt seem fussed either way.

Shanean asked him whether the dosages were the same between Chemo I and Chemo II considering she felt so much better the second time around, perhaps the dose was a bit lighter. It wasnt though - he says its due to the fact that she was so unwell the first time around (ie large, active tumors)

So this time around after one day, she says she doesnt feel as bad as the first one again, but doesnt feel as good as the second one. Bit of nausea and general unwellness for want of a better word

Both the nurse taking Shaneans blood and the one giving her chemo commented on the fact that it is not common for people to go commando and walk around with a bald head as Shanean is doing - most people wear wigs or hats - but qualified it by saying she has a good head shape for it

One last thing - bubba Joel - the forgotten Salter. Yes, hes still here

  1. Bubba Joel will never be the forgotten Salter - Pumpy still misses his "little mate" - however Bubba Joel who has the face of an angel is quite the traitor - always happy to be nursed by whoever --- until someone taller comes by - which is why he doted on Pumpy - always reaching out to Pumpy to be nursed up high - next time I will marry a dwarf - then see who Bubba Joel prefers!!!
Hope Neam is feeling better today - the Broomshead sea air is just what she needs Nessie will be well again by then as well so maybe the Sydney Salters can have a bit of R&R next week Think Granny Brand will also deserve a well earned break --- and a few wines - got 'em in the fridge Jeanette

  2. Hi Shayne and Shannean
I have been following the progress reports and I have finally worked out how I can send a comment. Good to hear that all of you are off to the Broom, it is always a good place and with a bit of luck I will be able to catch up with you there. Take care and I'm sure you know that we are all keeping close tabs on you.
    Love Larraine
